2008 24HR Art members exhibition
Opening, next Fri, 24 Oct, 6pm
This year's 24HR Art Member's Exhibition is set to be even more unique than usual, with works made from a cardboard box, the Cube 625. Artists from around the Territory have submitted works, reflecting the diversity of contemporary art practice in the NT. Opening night will be huge! Free drinks and nibbles from 6pm. Member's who are yet to submit works may still do so. Please contact the gallery, or bring in works by Tuesday, 21 Oct.

Skin Deep - Exhibition and Fundraiser for Gary Lee

Next Friday evening the 24th of October CCAS hosts an art
auction to raise money for Gary Lee. There are over 50 artworks from some of
AustraliaÕs most collectable artists, and this is a chance for everyone to
invest in the best of Australian contemporary art! You can view this incredible
collection of works at CCAS Gorman House from October 18 to 24 (10-4 Saturday
and 11-5 weekdays), or if you are unable to make it in person you can view the
catalogue of works on the CCAS website. This is a fantastic opportunity and
looks set to be an entertaining evening. If are unable to attend you will be

Design wins the N.T. Chief Ministers Award for Industry and Export in the Arts
The Award was received on behalf of Tiwi Design, by Praxedes Tipungwuti, one of Tiwi Designs youngest
members. Tiwi Design will
join winners across Australia who will compete for the National Export
Award held at the National Gallery of Victoria on the 5 December. All the best!

the others / les autres - is the touring exhibition of 'the other APT,' curated by Darwin based artist Jenny Fraser. The exhibition features works from Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, Melanesian, Polynesian, Maori and Asian artists. Attending and performing at the opening night will be Aboriginal didgeridoo master Lez Bex Beckett, performance artist Ann Fuata, artists featured in the exhibition Madelyn Hodge, Chantal Fraser, Maia and Artist/Curator Jenny Fraser. Fraser states the exhibition highlights discourse around "the importance of place, ceremony, ritual, legend, identity, politics and mutual respect."Christine Christopherson and Gary Lee are two of the other local artists exhibiting work. Chinatown Public Art Exhibition Program 2009-2010

Expressions of interest for the
2009-2010 Exhibition Program are now open, to take part in CouncilÕs Chinatown
Public Art Exhibition Program, which supports the temporary exhibition of works
of art at the Chinatown Carpark in Smith St, Darwin CBD. A Public Art
Development Grant of up to $3,000 is also available to NT artists to create a

To be part of the exhibition: get a mini stretched canvas, from Don Whyte Picture Framing or Darwin Visual Arts Association, make an artwork with it, get it to Don's by Sat Nov 1, figure a sale price with 15% or more to give to the fundraiser if it sells, come to the very popular opening Sat Nov 8, 6pm and then buy others on the night!!! Either way if you get to contribute or not, it will be a great show and event. Last year funds raised at this event went towards assisting artistsÕ development in East Timor. Eminent local artist Christian Clare Robertson is to conduct a third oil painting workshop for artists with some painting experience. It is open to those who previously attended as well as new applicants. The workshop will be held in a room with good ventilation and artists are required to bring their own materials. Australian Video Art Archive Seeking Contributions

Australian Video Art Archive (AVAA) is the first research collection and
on-line archive of its type in Australia and is already becoming an important
site for the cultural and research sectors. It contains video and performance
art
works
from the early 1970s to the present. The AVAA is now seeking video and
performance art work on video to add to its research collection and on-line
archive. AVAA is interested in photographs, videos, taped interviews or
seminars or any other ephemera that may be available. The AVAA has 60 works
already on-line and is now seeking to expand the collection. To make
