                                    24HR ART - CALL FOR ART WORK / EXPERIMENTAL VIDEO WORK                                              
24HR Art- The Northern Territory Centre for Contemporary Art invites media artists to submit contemporary artwork for the 2011 ÔBOXSETÕ program and experimental video work for the 2011 ÔMonitorÕ program.

BOXSET
The 24HR Art BOXSET Program is comprised of a window space (2 x 2 x 1m) at the front of the gallery. Work is to be exhibited to the public in 24 hours a day.  The detail information can be seen at the link:  http://www.24hrart.org.au/exhibproposals.html
The BOXSET is a free exhibition space. Artists receive promotion via exhibition invites, media releases and the 24HR Art website.

MONITOR

Samuel Miller solo exhibition

Exhibition: to 11 June 

Samuel Miller lives in Pipalyatjara, a community in the far North West corner of South Australia, in the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) lands. A member of Ninuku Artists, Samuels paintings depict the traditional iconography of his land which lies to the east of Pipalyatjara. Rockholes, creeks and hills feature in his paintings, all immersed in Tjukurpa (dreaming stories). Samuel also paints the Bilby Woman Tjukurpa. His colour palette is drawn from the varying colours in the landscape that surrounds Pipalyatjara. This will be Samuel's first solo exhibition. 8 Parap Pl, Parap (upstairs). Selling an American Dream: Australia's Greek Cafe'' The national touring exhibition chronicles a significant Australian story: how one key institution – the Greek cafŽ – influenced Australian popular culture. The Janet Holmes ˆ Court Artists' Grant is designed to provide financial assistance to professional artists for the public presentation of their work. This grant provides assistance towards the costs of public presentation of visual arts, craft and design. This can include, but is not limited to, framing, media releases, media photographs, advertising, space rental, installation costs, promotional printing, mail outs, documentation, freight, travel, equipment rental, insurance, technical assistance and opening costs. Amounts available are: $500 for individuals and $1,000 for groups. This grant does not provide assistance towards the production of artwork (materials, studio rental, research etc). This call is open to artists from different disciplines and backgrounds - individuals and groups are welcome. Within a public protected area, the topic INDIGENOUS AND ALIEN can be associated to the preservation of flora and fauna, migration, identity or cultural diversity. The last two days of the event, there will be an open presentation to the public. We will work with the residents on possible formats for the exhibition.
